Summer ART time

Summer time is on its way!

That means FREE art opportunities lie just around the corner.

My little town of Dayton, OH explodes with art opportunities from June-August. It seems like every park district has a weekly concert series or festival with live music. Our swanky Oregon District holds many an open mic night. There is Shakespeare in the park at our outdoor theater venues. Not to mention the local summer festivals with live music as you wander stalls and try fun foods.

And what about our air condition loving friends who hate sweltering in the summer humidity?

There is art happening in doors too!

Why not check out your local art museum, historic churches , libraries and coffee shops? I promise you.  There is a concert series, festival or open mic night going on. And you should be there!

Here is the thing:

Communities need the arts to thrive. Artists need communities to enjoy their art. Summer is the perfect time to cultivate that symbiotic relationship.

Make this summer a summer you remember! Do yourself a favor and go out and consume some ART.

Make it a weekly date for yourself and your family. Grab your lawn chairs, pack a picnic dinner and go out and support your local performers.
